It's worth noticing that from table 1 to 2 all that has happened is we have taken the G down to an F#. This formation functions well as a D dom13 where the C is the seventh, F#is the third, E is ninth and B is the thirteenth. Mles Davis uses this in compositions like Nardis. They also work as A-7 substitutes in some instances. Why?
